Building Automation Project Manager

The Building Automation Project Manager is responsible for assistance and guidance of BAS construction projects which includes project leadership, working with building reps, electrical subcontractors and other related trades on construction projects while also assisting the sales team in producing credible, accurate project estimates.

Essential Functions

  • Project management and coordination between contractors, engineers, installers, controls specialists and programmers.
  • Interact with Architects, Engineers and customers to assist with project budget and accurate timelines.
  • Monitor worksites to ensure an accurate, timely, and safe installation.
  • Use of Smartware as well as other departmental/company- wide communication tools to keep accurate, up to date records on job details for consistency across the team.
  • Provide service/project management support as needed.
  • Documentation and project closeouts
  • May give occasional scheduled or impromptu presentations for customers, team, managers or corporate personnel, concerning the project being worked on
  • Regularly visits customer facilities for technical assistance in project/mechanical design and installations.
  • Occasionally aides and advises trainees and others team members.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Work Environment

This position operates in an environment that may contain dust, noise, oils, greases, grinding debris, compressed air, metal shavings, propane, and solvents (job sites) as well as in an office environment.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation. This job also requires the use of machines and hand tools necessary for mechanical work and building automation. This position requires occasional heavy lifting up to 30 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, a non-exempt position. Standard days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Travel

Travel to customer/prospect sites on a regular basis

Required Education and Experience

  • 7 or more years of experience working with HVAC, building automation systems.
  • Advanced HVAC system design courses
  • Five or more years’ experience in this field.
  • An understanding of other skilled trades such as welding, plumbing and electrical.
  • Strong Commercial HVAC skills,
  • Computer skills including Mircosoft products and industry specific/company specific programs
  • A good understanding of contract plans and specifications
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret bid documents and blueprints
  • Ability to determine the complete scope of work required for projects

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

  • Criminal Background Check, PA Child Welfare clearance, and FBI fingerprinting clearance required
  • DMV check
