CM3 Building Solutions Approved as Philadelphia Building Tune-Up Specialist

Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. February 1, 2022 – CM3 Building Solutions, Inc. was recently approved by Philadelphia’s Office of Sustainability as a Building Tune-Up Specialist.

Building Tune-Up Specialists are approved to conduct building tune-ups as part of Philadelphia’s Building Energy Performance Program (BEPP). Created through the Building Energy Performance Policy, BEPP’s goal is to drive efficient energy and water use in +50,000 square foot, non-residential buildings in Philadelphia. The project is expected to reduce Philadelphia’s carbon pollution by 200,000 metric tons, or the equivalent of removing 40,000 automobiles.

To achieve compliance with BEPP, buildings have three courses of action:

  1. Conduct a “tune-up” of existing building systems using an approved Building Tune-Up Specialist.
  2. Certify high performance.
  3. Receive an exemption.

“We are excited to be part of this critical initiative to improve Philadelphia’s environmental impact,” states Brad Pappal, Director of New Business Development. “As a local business, we have many customers who are working to comply with these efficiency goals. This approval enables us to assist them in their efforts.”

The tune-up deadline for the largest non-residential buildings is September 30, and the deadline for completion of the high-performance pathway is April 4. Additional building deadlines follow and are based on building size:

  • September 30, 2022: Buildings with 200,000 sq. ft. to 199,999 sq. ft.
  • September 30, 2023: Buildings with 70,000 sq. ft to 99,999 sq. ft.
  • September 30, 2024: Buildings with 50,000 sq. ft. to 69,999 sq. ft.

“As the 2022 deadlines approach, there’s a sense of urgency around the BEP Program,” observes Pappal. “However, CM3’s fleet of technicians enables us to conduct turnkey site assessments and building tune-ups within the required timeframe.”
