The Assistant Controller plays a crucial role in the financial management of our overall operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial reporting. This position is responsible for assisting the Chief Financial Officer in overseeing the day-to-day financial activities, managing financial audits, and implementing effective financial controls, to provide accurate information to management.

- Maintains confidence and protects business by keeping information confidential.
- Prepares and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements/reports.
- Supports the CFO to ensure timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, banking and cash management, including lockbox implementation and in the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives
- Account réconciliations, journal entries, and estimates/accruals
- Oversee general accounting entries and responsibility for month-end financial close
- Monitors monthly sales and use tax reporting and payments
- Monthly percentage of completion reports, reviews and entries
- External/internal audit support and responses, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement tax strategies, annual budgets and analyze/report on variances to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
- Working with financial/admin team to create internal controls and policies and procedures to safeguard company assets.
Skills and Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations and best practices, including a thorough knowledge of GAAP and management accounting
- Strong ability to present financial information to a variety of audiences
- Proficient in accounting software, and solid Microsoft Office skills
- High levels of integrity and trustworthiness
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail, and ability to manage time and resources effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills. Good social skills in dealing with internal personnel, external auditors, field operations and other departments

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- 7 or more years of progressive responsibility and experience in high-growth companies
- Experience leading collaborative budgeting and financial planning process, working closely with operating management and senior management colleagues
- M&A experience
- Experience consolidating and establishing new finance teams
- Experience in both construction and service companies highly desirable
- Experience in privately held companies with equity investors and board members
- Proven leadership skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence
- Must be a team player with the ability to form close working relationships with all levels of employees
Preferred Education and Experience
- Familiarity with construction and service-based accounting standards
- CPA strongly preferred
- Experience in the following sectors: new construction, renovation, maintenance, retrofit and field services
